We won!

A federal judge in Michigan just issued his final ruling in our fight against the HHS Mandate on behalf of Catholic businessman John Kennedy and his company Autocam.

Despite the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in the Hobby Lobby case last summer, our case continued with questions over whether Mr. Kennedy’s corporation, or other private businesses like his, were covered by the court’s decision.

This is a victory not just for Autocam CEO John Kennedy, it’s a victory for you — and for every American!

No American should be compelled by our government to violate the fundamental teachings of their religious faith. But that’s exactly what the Obama administration was trying to do. And not just Mr. Kennedy, but tens of thousands of businesses everywhere were threatened. Using broad powers granted under Obamacare, government officials have continued to attack our fundamental religious liberties. These threats against American businesses carry the potential for tens of millions of dollars in fines, or shutting down.

The position taken by the Obama administration in our case was that you could be a Catholic on Sundays, but if you want to operate a business, you must provide contraceptive drugs to all women, without charge, including drugs that result in the death of a living human being.

Mr. Kennedy said: I cannot in good conscience comply.

The health care plan offered to employees of Autocam provided excellent coverage — superior to most plans offered by businesses today. Mr. Kennedy offers his employees a top-notch health care plan because of his Catholic faith, and his desire to respect the dignity and worth of each of his employees.

Yet this same faith also requires him to avoid those drugs and medicines that attack human dignity and the sanctity of life.

Today he has been vindicated.

We give thanks today for the courage of Mr. Kennedy and all those business owners willing to stand up for their rights — and the rights of us all.
